* Eliminate your bad eating habits. Cut back on soda, sugar, foods with saturated fats, and non-whole grain products.  Instead, stock up on dark green vegetables, whole grain and whole wheat products, fish, lean red meat, fresh fruits, and poultry breast. If you’re fond of junk food and can’t quit the cold turkey way, wean yourself off gradually. Substitute fruit for potato chips. It might not seem like much, but it will make a big difference in the long run.

* Walk for five minutes after eating a meal. Moving your body will help it release air that’s trapped in your gastrointestinal tract, which would then relieve pressure and bloating. You can walk for longer than five minutes if you want, but just five minutes is enough to get things moving inside your stomach.

* Increase your metabolic rate by eating six to eight small meals a day instead of just three large meals. Ingest a small meal every two to three hours. This increased frequency of eating will also increase your metabolic rate. Keep in mind, though, that the key here is to eat small meals, not regular-sized or large ones. Otherwise, you will pack on the pounds instead of shedding them off.

* Don’t eat two hours before you sleep. Your bodily processes slow down when you sleep, and this includes digestion. If you eat and then sleep immediately afterward, your body won’t digest your food properly.

* Do this simple exercise as often as you can: suck your stomach in and maintain this contraction for around 10 to 20 seconds. Repeat this 10 to 15 times. What’s great about this kind of exercise is that you can do it anytime, anywhere. Of course, it will also be good for you to do aerobic exercises as well as weight lifting, as these will help you tone your tummy and your whole body.
